Global Service Adds Nine Additional Countries for Making International Calls Using Local Numbers
MENLO PARK, CA - (May 25, 2007) - Jaxtr, a social communications company, today announced that over 100,000 users have given their phone a clickable link since the company launched the public beta of its service just two months ago. Membership has quadrupled from 25,000 just 24 days ago. The company does not do any kind of advertising, so this rapid and accelerating growth is driven entirely by word-of-mouth of existing users.
People in 220 countries around the world can use jaxtr to make and receive calls on their landline or mobile phones using jaxtr's click-to-call widget. Today, the company also announced its support of nine more countries where users can make international calls directly from their mobile phones using local direct-dial numbers. Jaxtr is compatible with all phones and does not require a download. Users don't even need to register on the jaxtr site to call their friends.
The nine new countries added are Germany, Austria, Slovak Republic, Hungary, Cyprus, Finland, Guatemala, Pakistan, and New Zealand. Jaxtr has already been providing local numbers to 29 other countries, including Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, Chile, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Guam, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Luxembourg, Mexico, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Romania, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the U.S. Virgin Islands, United Kingdom and United States.
"We're expanding our global support in direct response to rising demand worldwide for the jaxtr service," noted Phillip Mobin, jaxtr co-founder and CTO. "People all over the world are taking advantage of the significant cost savings and convenience that the jaxtr service provides, and we're thrilled to allow millions of people in nine more countries today to call friends and family abroad using local numbers."
Jaxtr works with the world's most popular social networks and communities, including MySpace, Facebook, LinkedIn, Orkut, Hi5, Tagged, Friendster, Flickr, YouTube, Wikipedia, Craigslist, eBay, LiveJournal and Blogger.
In addition to making live calls from their existing phones, jaxtr users can send voice and text messages and record greetings to update people who visit their profile or blog using the VoiceBlast™ feature. Jaxtr users also have free access to the jaxtr PrivacyShieldTM, which allows them to control on a caller-by-caller basis who can reach them directly and whose calls get routed to voice mail.
The jaxtr service includes a free Web-based visual voicemail inbox that makes it easy to review and act on messages. Users can block specific callers from leaving voice messages and choose whether their home, work or mobile phone should ring when an approved person calls.
